Reclaiming invaded spaces and RELATIONSHIP WITH the land

Over the past 5 months Mary-Claire Buell of CE has been working with Sharday James and her community to understand the impacts of phragmites and how this affects the community's relationship with the land. Together we came up with a roadmap for phragmites management where community knowledge, education, and values is at the heart of every step of the process. It was important for us to go beyond  simply the the removal of this invasive species. We created a roadmap that shows how we can restore the invaded spaces   in a way that honours the land and the community's relationship with it.  

Looking forward to our next steps as we  learn more, remove the phragmites,  and bring back the medicines.
